The National Peace Council has said it is engaging both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary caucus to ensure a peaceful resolution of grievances arising from the 2020 parliamentary and presidential elections.
This follows the challenge of certain seats in the courts by both parties and recent events in the election of a new president for the 8th legislature.
Speaking on the sidelines of a retreat on the post-December 7, 2020 elections hosted by the National Peace Council on Thursday, January 21, 2021, AFN Board Chairman Reverend Dr. Ernest Adu -Gyamfi, told Class news that: parliamentary caucuses, we are still engaging them, we haven’t been able to meet them all yet but engagement continues and we are making sure there will be some understanding for think first of Ghana and not of ourselves or ourselves or a political party. ”
Meanwhile, the council revealed that it intended to organize a healing program for the country.
The AFN President said, “We already have a plan for a national healing dialogue once this whole court case is over. We think there is a need for this sort of thing, where we can bring all the parties together, all the players together, let’s look at our country and heal the country.
“So we have this plan out there, but we’ve put it on hold because of all this court case, we want to see how it goes and then we will roll out these programs to bring healing to our country.
The AFN chairman was optimistic that the NDC and NPP will have their grievances resolved by the end of February and urged all parties involved to be patient.
“Once the judgment has been rendered, it has been handed down, we have seen it in the past, you may not be satisfied, but it is the decision of the court, for the moment we advise everyone be patient and allow the processes to unfold. .
“At the end of February, the country should heal.”
