Some Ghanaians on social media backed Bawku’s central deputy for parliament’s motion to suspend payment of tuition fees for higher education students.
Regarding their Twitter pages, many applauded Mahama Ayariga for recognizing the struggle of the people and taking an initiative to resolve it.
They believe that the suspension of fees will go a long way in helping more people than they expect.
Many people have been admitted to universities but cannot afford tuition fees due to financial constraints due to COVID-19. People are really suffering in this Chale country … Thank you for helping us. #SuspendTheSchoolFees

The central deputy of Bawku had previously asked President Alban Bagbin to seek the prior approval of the proposal to suspend the payment of admission fees for higher education students in the 2020/21 academic year.
Mahama Ayariga postulated the urgency of the motion on the recent reopening of schools where students who have been admitted are asked to make payments prior to admission.
Let your deputies suspend their ex-gratias first. There is already a huge burden on the government budget with the FREE SHS policy.
Stop following blindly. If members of Parliament want to show us that they care about us, they should first reduce the amount of taxpayer money they take. #SuspendTheSchoolFees

He said the development is rather worrisome considering the country is still trying to recover from a pandemic that has taken a toll on the economic activities of citizens.
Parliament, however, has yet to approve the motion, with the NPP caucus calling the motion “flawed and incompetent.”
I had all the fees the next 2 weeks, and most of the paperwork was done, I decided to drop and continue this year but I was depressed as this was the first time my fees were delayed and it was my last year. I really wanted to do it 🤦 #SuspendTheSchoolFees
