It will not be inappropriate to label President Yoweri Museveni as a tyrant. He has been President of Uganda for over three decades now, why doesn’t he retire for fresher blood and a more energetic young man to run the affairs of Uganda as he stays back and offer useful advice? It is very evident that he is now abusing power by arbitrarily arresting and killing innocent citizens. I would like to understand the psychology of the Ugandan people who still support Museveni’s reign.
Bobi Wine, a Member of Parliament who was until now a very successful musician, thought it wise to use his musical voice to have a positive impact on his society and he could only do it well by launching into politics and directly influencing key government policies and decisions. for the benefit of the masses. He is one of the few young people in Africa doing his best to change the negative rhetoric about Africa. I think it is imperative that all Ugandans give him their support against this tyrant leader (Museveni) who has held power for far too long.
Why are you enslaving me because you got me out of slavery, what difference does it really make? Yoweri Museveni, who claimed to be a freedom fighter, is now disrupting the freedom of ordinary people in Uganda. He uses his position as President of Uganda to intimidate and humiliate people, especially Bobi Wine, his main opponent. He has frustrated and tortured the life of this young man, simply because he (Bobi) wants to succeed him democratically. I want to believe that there are still many Ugandans who still support this tyrant, otherwise, it is easy to oust him from power either democratically or by brute force, as he does not see the need for his retirement after several years of mismanagement of the Ugandan economy. Who doesn’t know Uganda is a poor country and not the best place in the world to live because of bad leadership.
African leaders who have taken political leadership as their birthright must repent and give young people the chance to also contribute their share to the construction of their country. These old men must be godfathers who offer good advice to young people who are serious about leadership and want the betterment of Africa and Bobi Wine is one of those wonderful young people. Julius Malema from South Africa is a great source of inspiration, as is Nigerian activist Omoyele Sowore on the continent. We need dynamic young people like these guys to boost Africa’s development. Old people must give way to young people to take the lead because it is their future that is at stake here, not the old. The elders will soon die and let the young people go through the decisions they made on their behalf.
We have all seen how Yoweri Museveni treated Bobi Wine in the two years the young man decided to run for President of Uganda. He arrested him several times for not having committed any wrongdoing and used the police and the army against him, his family and his friends. He changed the constitution just so he could run for president again. And the Ugandans watch him do what he wants with the country. Does he want to be president for life? What kind of old man is he? He got it all with power, while selfishly clinging to power, why are some African leaders so mean and inconsiderate? And always claim that they have Africa at heart. Do you intimidate and kill those you are meant to protect and still call yourself a leader?
My advice to Bobi Wine is that he shouldn’t give up on his dream of freeing his people. Museveni will not live forever and he (Bobi) will take his rightful place in Uganda as liberator and man of the people. I admire his courage and confidence to lead and have a positive impact on life. He will succeed in his quest to lead his people to the promised land. He should continue to fight. We are behind him as the young people of Africa who also want the progress of the continent. We all, as young people, need to support young people who are striving hard to make an impact in the world.
Let’s give a chance to those who risk their lives to have a better Africa and peoples. President Yoweri Museveni should be ashamed of himself that at his age he still clings to power and would do whatever he can to stay in power. Posterity will judge him; let her know that nothing lasts forever.
