Northern Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said the work of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Membership Appointments Committee in the upcoming ministerial appointment verification process would justify its integrity.

This follows the referral of ministerial candidates to the Parliamentary Appointments Committee.

In a Facebook post on Saturday January 23, 2021, Mr. Ablakwa said: “The conspiracy theories against the NDC Membership Nominations Commission and the broader NDC caucus are most unfair, vexatious, malicious and downright offensive. .

The North Tongu MP noted that the NDC caucus in Parliament had demonstrated that it could not be corrupted.

Mr Ablakwa wrote: “We have shown enough courage since the election of the President to prove to the world that we cannot be swayed by inducements and that we are not pushovers either. We are simply implausible and absolutely impenetrable! ”

According to the MP for North Tongu, “The people of Ghana have not given us these impressive numbers in Parliament just to use them for dirty deals with the dark forces. It will represent a betrayal of the people’s mandate in the most obscene and unacceptable terms.

“We are confident that our work on the committee will confirm our integrity.”

Mr. Ablakwa stressed that: “Yes, we will not be a reckless obstructionist group, but neither do we intend to serve as mere treadmills or delusional accomplices.

“May the Lord help us.”

The list of ministerial appointments established by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was referred on Friday January 22, 2021 to the Nominations Committee by the President of Parliament, Mr. Alban Bagbin.

The Chairman instructed the Committee to consider the list after which it will report to the Plenary.

Nominees are expected to be reviewed by the Nominations Committee, made up of 26 members.

Thirteen members are from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), while the remaining 13 are from the main opposition NDC party.

Nominees are also expected to be recommended for approval or disapproval at the end of the verification process.
