Anambra Police Command arrested one Nonso Eze, 37, for allegedly pushing a lady to death from his apartment on the fifth floor of a 5-story building
State Police (PPRO) public relations officer CSP Haruna Mohammed disclosed in a statement to Awka on Saturday.
Mohammed said the incident happened at about 3 a.m. Saturday at No.6 Orakwe Close, Fizzle, Awada-Obosi, in the Idemili Northern State Local Government Area.
The spokesperson, who noted that the matter had been reported to Awada Police Station At around 6:30 a.m. the same day, said the victim, who had not yet been identified, was later confirmed dead by a doctor.
“Police officers attached to the Awada Division visited the scene, photographed the victim and took her to Onitsha Hospital for medical treatment, but was certified dead on arrival by a doctor.
“As a result, a preliminary investigation of the occupants of the compound revealed that the girl was allegedly pushed down from the bedroom of a Nonso Eze, 37, of the same address ffollowing a quarrel, ”he said.
According to him, the suspect was subsequently arrested and following a search of his apartment, a pair of female slippers and an unused condom were recovered as evidence.
Meanwhile, Mohammed said the lady’s corpse has been taken to the hospital morgue for an autopsy as investigation continues to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
He added that the suspect will be prosecuted after a full-scale investigation.
