Daughter of the late Jerry John Rawlings, Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings says she and her siblings could not spend enough time with their late father because of the position he held and what he represented as that leader.

The MP for Klottey Korle, however, admitted during a roundtable at a vigil held in his honor that while their time together was always short, each meeting had its meaning.

“Back then there wasn’t a lot of stability, there was a threat to his life at one point and he didn’t want us to be a part of it, so he felt that if we lived in a place separate it sort of diminished. the risk.

“He also didn’t want us to grow up in air of superiority living in the castle, it was just to give us as normal a life as possible.”

“Which meant we didn’t see him as often, but when we did, there was always something he wanted to impact so much knowledge; we teach me and my siblings to drive before our feet even hit the gas pedal, teach us how to drive the model airplane and how to ride a bicycle, ”she said.

The vigil was held at the Air Force Officers’ Mess in Accra in honor of the late Jerry John Rawlings.

Earlier today, on January 24, a Catholic Requiem Mass was held for the statesman as part of four-day funeral rites.

The vigil was attended by Mr. Rawlings’ family, government officials, members of both political parties and other dignitaries.

The former president left behind a wife, former first lady Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, and four children.
