Men from Amotekun’s Corps in Ondo State arrested a 22-year-old woman, Seun Oladayo, for selling her one-day-old baby girl to a pastor for N 10,000 (GHc 153).

The new mom said she couldn’t care for her baby because the child’s father had abandoned her the day she told him she was pregnant.

Speaking about the illegal act, the young woman said she asked the pastor to take her child because she did not know how she was going to take care of her.

She said:

“I asked the pastor to take the baby and bring N10,000 because I don’t know how I’m going to take care of the baby.”

The pastor identified as Olawale and popularly known as Eri Aditu said he did what the woman wanted and then reported the case to Amotekun, Linda Ikeji’s blog reports.

According to the pastor, the baby was given to her in a bag with the placenta by the mother who was desperate to sell her baby.

He recalled:

“I was told to bring 10,000 N, so they could give the doctor 5,000 N for his work and I did it because if I didn’t, another person would come and buy the baby.

“I went to Amotekun to report the woman and she was handed over to the police to the Yaba sector commander in Ondo West local government area.

In a previous report, a couple in Benin, the capital of Edo state, had taken in a set of quadruplets in addition to their six children.

Talk with Legitimate TV, the husband identified as Austin Ohenhen said he ran away for a while after hearing the news.

According to Austin, he returned home after words of encouragement from friends and family.
