The Coalition of Concern Polling station executives and electoral zone coordinators for the Salaga South constituency of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) calls on President Nana Akufo-Addo not to appoint the head of the municipal executive ( MCE), Mohammed Tamimu, again because of his appalling performance during the tenure.

The young people of the NPP accused the MCE of the fall of the party in the constituency of Salaga Sud during the presidential and parliamentary elections of 2020 which have just ended.

“We recalled that the president, during his first term, urged his appointees not to let down the people who fought valiantly to bring the party to power. Interestingly, this solemn appeal did not resonate with some appointees in his government during the first term and a glowing example is the outgoing MCE for East Gonja, Hon Mohammed Tamimu. This is due to the fact; his idiopathic pride, simplistic selfishness and insatiable greed caused the defeat of the party’s parliamentary candidate, the Hon. Salifu Adam Braimah (Uncle Sally), in the 2020 general election, ”they said in a statement.

In order for the president’s agenda to break the eight-year cycle to come to fruition, they argued, the ERM’s mandate should not be renewed and suggested that a more reliable grassroots party that knows how to deal with the grassroots and who has the geopolitics command of the district of Salaga Sud, should be proposed and appointed for the post of MCE for the Municipal Assembly of East Gonja.

They said the MCE had not visited a single polling station in the constituency to somehow get acquainted with the leaders of the polling stations, adding that he had never on his own ever visited a community to familiarize themselves with the problems plaguing the polling station. people and also check the strength of the party.

“It would be interesting for you to know that for the four year Hon. Mohammed Tamimu, chaired as MCE for the Assembly of Gonja Est, he disagreed with the executives of the constituency of Salaga Sud. There was no mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence within the party base in the constituency due to the uncompromising position of the city manager. In conduct and in speech, the MCE was seen fueling factionalism in the constituency by selectively working with a privileged few at the expense of the masses.

Addressing the media in Salaga, Mr. David Kpaba Katanga, coordinator of the electoral zone, said that attempts had been made in the past to negotiate peace between the MCE and the constituency executives through the regional and national executives of the NPP, but without positive result.

“He deliberately sidelined the constituency leaders and created parallel leadership within the party. This rift created unreasonable discouragement and apathy among the party base in the constituency, which ultimately led to the party’s defeat in the 2020 election.

He claimed that the MCE had taken unilateral decisions on certain government programs and policies which rendered party structures useless and affected the party’s fortunes in the 2020 elections which have just ended.
