Parliament Speaker Alban Bagbin revealed that he had already drawn up an existing political plan when the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) informed him of his presidential nomination.
Mr Bagbin, who first spoke about it at a conference held by the NDC in honor of former President Rawlings on Monday, said: “I had packed my bags and bags ready to leave politics. when suddenly God smiled at me.
“I had created an Institute of Parliamentary Affairs in Africa and I asked some of our professors to work with me. I was in transit to support democracy and growth [of Africa] and he [God] used you all [NDC] led by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.
According to him, although he was nervous during the electoral process at the dawn of January 7, he had a hunch that he was going to win the post of president.
He therefore assured the NDCs that “God who started it all will accomplish it”.
Meanwhile, the inauguration process of the Eighth Parliament of the Fourth Republic will go down in history as the most chaotic in the country’s history.
The long dragging process which lasted more than nine hours was characterized by several agitations.
But at the end of nine hours of grudge, musical chairs, military invasion, and “illegal” deputy, Mr. Bagbin was chosen as the eighth speaker of Ghana’s eighth parliament.
The former deputy for Nadowli Kaleo, however, made history by being the next speaker of parliament who is not chosen by the ruling party.
