Former presidential aspirant and pillar of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sylvester Mensah lamented the NPP government’s sidelining of the NDC in planning and organizing the funeral of their founder, Jerry John Rawlings.
Sylvester made the claim at a public conference hosted by the NDC to honor the memory of former President Jerry John Rawlings, the party’s founder who died in November last year after a brief illness.
According to Mensah, the way in which the NDC was sidelined in the planning and organization of Rawlings’ funeral angered many of the NDC’s mainstays.
According to him, this is the reason why the party leadership decided to organize the memorial conference which took place last night to calm the nerves of the party.
“The NDC was sidelined throughout the organization of this funeral and we were forced to undertake this exercise in order to calm the nerves of some of our members. We would like to implore our members across the country to be calm and to take it easy, ”he said as he moderated the event which was closely watched by this portal.
After the death of the former president and head of state, NPP and NDC went back and forth with each other, fighting for exclusive rights to the planning and organization of the late president’s funeral. .
Funeral activities have since started two days ago, with only two days left for the former president to be buried with full military honors, including a 21-gun salute.
