Members of the University of Health and Allied Sciences Section of the Association of Senior Executives of the Federation of Universities of Ghana (FUSSAG-UHAS) have withdrawn their services effective today Wednesday January 27, 2020 .
Their action is in solidarity with the strike by the Union of Teachers and Education Workers (TEWU).
This is contained in a statement jointly signed by their Chairman, Mr. Jeffery Nii Otu Lakai and their Secretary, Mr. Alexander Yao Agbenu, on Tuesday, January 26.
The TEWU launched a strike on January 13, 2021 to protest the government’s inability to respect the working conditions of its members.
Even though the TEWU leadership issued a statement calling off the strike, as of January 19, 2021, TEWU members at some college campuses across the country, including the University of Health and Allied Sciences, remained in strike.
The statement released by FUSSAG-UHAS declaring the strike excluded staff from the university’s newly opened base school which has yet to start a new academic calendar.
