From February 1, 2021, the Ho Municipal Assembly will begin full implementation of coronavirus protocols to contain the spread of the disease.

Municipality Director General Prosper Pi-Bansah in a statement released, signed and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said a task force had been formed to ensure compliance with protocols in the public places, including schools, markets and places of worship.

According to the statement, anyone found in a public place without a mask would be arrested and pay a one-off fine.

He said the Assembly and the Municipal Public Health Emergency Management Committee are working diligently to mitigate the impact of the disease in the municipality.

He said the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) and the Department of Information Services would be resourced to scale up education within the municipality to ensure public compliance.

The statement urged all residents of the municipality to adhere to prevention and safety protocols established to curb the spread of the disease.
