Dereck Chisora and Joseph Parker are eager to finalize a new date for a fight after the last scheduled event was postponed by Parker’s surprise injury.
The duo were scheduled to fight in October 2019, but the New Zealand fighter’s training was derailed by a spider bite that caused a three-week illness.
Parker isn’t ready to fight Junior Fa on February 27, after which he could set up a fight with Chisora.
Speaking to Sky Sports, David Higgins was excited about the possibility.
“I’ve heard noises and frankly it’s a fight with interest,” Parker’s manager David Higgins said.
“We would approve it and there was interest from Parker, and our management team would approve it.
“There was a lot of talk in the past. The fight was contracted at one point. I think this fight makes sense.”
“They would like to do it in the UK. I would challenge Chisora and David Haye to come to New Zealand to do it,” Higgins said.
“Otherwise, we’ll still discuss them, but it would be very interesting to see one, whether they’re real, and two, whatever they have in mind.
“From Parker’s point of view, why waste time? We would be eager to start this fight and go to New Zealand or the UK, in early June, that would be doable I think.
“If you’re interested in fighting, David Haye has my phone number. Joseph Parker’s promoter is Eddie Hearn and Matchroom, and they are also said to be on board.
“In the past, this was an option that Matchroom was in favor of, so if Chisora and Haye are serious, start discussions and obviously Joseph has to do the trick in February, which he is focusing on. ‘there’s no harm in us as a management talking about the future now. ”
Chisora is looking for another fight after a slight loss to Oleksandr Usyk in October and is ready to take on Parker.
