The Ashanti regional branch of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has revealed that some health workers at Komfo Anokye University Hospital are caring for patients without wearing a face mask.
Some caregivers have expressed concern about the way management is handling Covid-19 cases, which they say are life threatening.
Talk to JoyNewsGMA Chairman Dr Paa Kwesi Baidoo said in an attempt to remedy the situation, they noticed that some staff members were not following security protocols.
“We also noticed the disrespect of the mask among the workers, in fact, the hospital staff.
“… We noticed this. We tell them and it’s like a joke, ”he continued.
According to him, this is not a question of a lack of PPE but rather a worrying disregard for protocols.
“We have been given musk as we speak now, I can tell you with confidence that we have a mask. We have a drink.
Describing the development as unpleasant, the GMA chairman revealed that the situation “even prompted the medical director of Komfo Anokye University Hospital to issue a memo two or three weeks ago reminding all staff of the need to wear masks and other PPE in the hospital. “
In light of this, GMA recommends sanctions for health workers who do not comply.
“We have even suggested to the management who is looking at our colleagues, but we believe that the time has come for some form of sanctions to be applied or inflicted on staff who do not follow these protocols,” added Dr Paa Kwesi. Baidoo.
