Hans Zimmer renders the musical score for Crysis 2

The next installment of Crytek and EA’s popular first-person shooter, Crysis 2 has been in the news for some time now. Earlier this month, the companies released the title demo for the Xbox 360 and PC to let gamers get the gist of the new chapter. Offering a preview of the full game, the developer and publisher recently announced that part of its intense score was designed by legendary composer Hans Zimmer.

Working with existing musicians, namely Borislav Slavov and Tilman Sillescu, Hans Zimmer composed notes that blend seamlessly with the events of the gaming world. The title portrays a futuristic image of New York City, engulfed in devastation. and the riot triggered by an alien invasion. Those who want to hear a preview of the soundtrack can download the Crysis 2 multiplayer demo, while it will also be available later on iTunes, Amazon and other online retailers.

“I was drawn to Crysis 2 because of Crytek’s passion for the project and the world they created,” said Music composer Hans Zimmer. “And I am very happy with the result of our collaboration.”

Players can reserve a copy of the title in advance to get their hands on an automatic upgrade to the Cyrsis 2 Limited Edition without paying a dime. This limited edition set will allow users access to all classes while also being packed with three additional in-game multiplayer unlocks. These include the SCAR Hologram Decoy, SCAR Weapon Skin, and Tag Tag. Platinum dog.

Crysis 2 will zoom into the North American realm on March 22, 2011 with the official soundtrack. It was slated to hit stores in the UK on March 25, 2011 for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Finally, PlayStation 3 players can now download the title’s multiplayer demo.
