The Ghana Police Service has initiated investigations into the events leading up to the death of the District Commander of Half Assisi, Supt. Cyprian Zeno.
The deceased was found dead with a gunshot wound at his home around 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2021.
According to a statement released by the Western Region Police Command, the deceased was found sitting in a blue chair with a gunshot wound to his forehead, with his pistol next to him on the ground and one from them spent ammunition under the chair.
He then added: “Although the preliminary investigation indicates a suicide, the investigation is open to unravel the real circumstances which led to the death of the officer.”
The statement signed by Regional Command Public Affairs Chief DSP Olivia Adiku urged everyone to be sensitive and circumspect in their comments on the matter as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, the remains of the deceased were transported for storage at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital.
The late SP Zeno was posted to Half Assisi as District Commander in early 2017.
He is from Nandom in the Upper West region and died at the age of 57.
The region was his first place of work as a district commander.
