James Garner has joined Nottingham Forest on loan until the end of the season after parent club Manchester United cut off their stay at Watford.
The 19-year-old midfielder has made a strong start to the season at Vicarage Road and has played 20 of the Hornets’ 26 league games, but has been frozen since the arrival of new manager Xisco Munoz.
United have therefore taken the decision to call him back and prepare the England Under-20 international with a new loan to another league team at Forest.
Forestry director Chris Hughton told the club’s website: “James is a promising young talent in the central midfield and this is an area where we have had issues with injuries and missing players in recent weeks.
“He had a great time at Watford where he gained much needed championship experience and we are confident he will be a valuable asset for us by the end of the season.
