Star Wars: Darth Vader is a hero in the eyes of a child

Darth Vader unwittingly became a hero in a child’s story. Ironic considering the number of children he has killed in his life.

Darth Vader is a lot to a lot of people. Warrior, conqueror, murderer, monster, apprentice, the chosen one, the list is endless. And as long as stories are continually being made about it, what it means to different people across the galaxy is only going to grow.

But in a strange case, Darth Vader, the wrath of the Emperor and the Dark Lord of the Sith, became a hero to a young boy after killing a monster that terrorized a ruined planet. And the great irony is that Vader didn’t even realize he was doing an entire species a favor by killing the beast.

In dark Vador Annual # 1 by Kieron Gillen and Leinil Yu, Vader makes a hard landing on the planet Cianap. Immediately after leaving his ruined TIE fighter, Vader was attacked by Ender, a massive monster who had ravaged the face of the planet for countless years, to the point that survivors of her rampage viewed her as a dark god. But Vader was a Lord of the Sith and is never scared (except by the Emperor), so he fought against this creature, seeing her for what she really was: just another silly creature who didn’t understand. the power of the dark side.

Unbeknownst to Vader, one of the natives of the planet, a child of Cianapian, witnessed his battle. He watched Vader fall and get up again and again, never giving Ender the victory she dreamed of. Then finally, the battle reached the child himself. He would have been killed by Ender if Vader had not ridden one of the horse-like creatures on the planet and the force had driven the boy away from the beast. Then Vader cemented his legacy on this planet by tearing Ender’s throat open.

For Vader, it had to be just a day in the life, another obstacle in his way to be dominated. But his actions unwittingly liberated an entire species, an entire planet in fact, from the tyranny of a foolish beast whose sole purpose was destruction. And as a result, he became a hero in the eyes of this child, the dark knight in the history of freedom for a whole people. But as the child thanked Vader, the Dark Lord seemed poised to kill the boy whose life he had saved not even five minutes before as well. Good thing Vader’s star destroyer came looking for him, otherwise who knows what might have happened to this naive young boy.

But there is a certain irony in the situation. Not only did Darth Vader unwittingly do a good thing, but he also became a hero in a child’s mind. Considering Vader’s background with children, this is nothing short of a miracle. As most Star Wars fans know, Vader killed not one, but two groups of children in his lifetime. A group of Tusken children and a group of young Jedi. And that was before he became the Darth Vader everyone knows and fears. So for him winning any child is nothing less than a miracle and at the same time an unhealthy joke. It probably helps that this boy has no idea who Vader was and for him, hopefully never. It would be a shame if the illusion was shattered by reality.
