Ghana registers 797 new cases of Covid-19, 28 deaths

Twenty-eight other people have died from the novel coronavirus as the country recorded 797 new infections as of January 27.

This brings the death toll to 405 and 4,665 active cases, according to the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

In addition, out of a cumulative total of 65,427 cases of Covid-19 confirmed to date, 60,357 have recovered or have been released.

In the wake of the upsurge in cases, the president in his latest address to the nation said citizens should hide and practice Covid-19 security protocols, otherwise he will be left with no choice but to lock down again some parts of the country.

Nana Akufo-Addo instructed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to order the officers, men and women of the Ghanaian police, to ensure the application of the law on the wearing of masks in all public places and in public transport.
