A burglar identified as Marius Petrikas broke into a bar, had a drink and destroyed some properties before falling asleep on a sofa.

The 30-year-old was found asleep after the bar owner heard him snoring, reports the Daily Star.

YEN.com.gh finds that the burglar has destroyed a property worth £ 21,450 (N 11,225,274.06) in the Newcastle pub.

The incident happened in August 2020 and the young man was tried in court after being arrested by police.

He was sentenced to 12 months in prison for the offense he committed in the pub. The judge noted that the suspect’s mental health contributed to his offense.

Marius will now be released almost immediately due to time spent in prison.

In a previous report by YEN.com.gh a guard named Charles Ayisala, who was incarcerated to serve an eight-year prison sentence after inflicting damage on the eye of an intruder, has finally been released.

Charles Ayisala, 46, married with children, has served four years of the 8-year prison sentence.

The father-of-five was rescued from serving the remaining four years of his original prison sentence after a Good Samaritan, Ali Ibrahim, paid his fine.

In a Facebook post, Crime Check revealed that prior to her arrest, Ayisala claimed to have found the intruder who had sneaked into one of the rooms and then defecated on the floor.

Ayisala alleged that the intruder took offense when he (Ayisala) approached to find out why he dumped excrement on the ground, and an altercation ensued.
