FRESH FROZEN
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has not said a word to former manager Frank Lampard during his 18 months at the helm of the Blues, according to reports.
Lampard’s removal was the 14th change of direction in the Russian’s tenure – and among the cheapest as he received just £ 2million in compensation.
And a report from the Telegraph claims that Abramovich never personally spoke to Lampard during his year and a half as club manager.
The Telegraph’s chief football writer Sam Wallace writes: “Early suspicions on the training ground of Cobham at Lampard and others that he had always been a convenient stopgap at a difficult time has been confirmed.
“They say Chelsea are a political club, but in reality these policies are very simple: Granovskaia tells everyone what to do and then they do it.
“Roman Abramovich’s protégé, who has spent her career running the oligarch’s affairs, appointed Lampard when alternatives were scarce.
“He didn’t speak to Abramovich during his 18 months as a manager.”
