Teenage defender Nathan Wood has joined Crewe Alexandra on loan until the end of the season.
Boro manager Neil Warnock hopes the change will allow the youngster to gain more senior match experience playing regular Ligue 1 football.
Warnock gave the player his full championship debut against Nottingham Forest in January.
Nathan, a native of Ingleby Barwick who has been with the club since the age of 13, became our youngest player of all time when he made his Carabao Cup debut against Notts County in August 2018 , at the age of 16 years and 75 days.
Since then, the England youth international has recorded 12 senior appearances, including seven this quarter.
Nathan joins teammate Boro Stephen Walker, also on loan at Gresty Road.
