Ugandan minister takes over ambulance after losing party primary

A Ugandan minister withdrew an ambulance she had given to residents of the northern town of Koboko before the ruling party primaries she lost, the Daily Monitor reports citing the town’s mayor.

Minister of Investment and Privatization Evelyn Anite donated the ambulance in September last year and tweeted a video of its handover to the municipality.

The ambulance was adorned with his portrait. She said it aimed to “facilitate access, especially for women, children and the elderly, to health facilities.”

The mayor of Koboko town, Wilson Sanya, reportedly said the ambulance had been returned to the minister.

“I confirm that the ambulance was returned to Anite by the district. The last time I spoke to the ambulance driver, he confirmed that it had been picked up by order of the minister, ”he told the Daily Monitor.
