The Government of Ghana through the Economic Management Team, Bank of Ghana, Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems (GhIPPS), Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Communications, National Communications Authority (NCA ), telecommunications companies such as MTN, Vodafone and AirtelTigo, as well as an online marketing company and licensed digital service provider known as KGL Technology Limited, have been extremely successful in improving the digitalization program of the government.
Ghana has basic infrastructure such as real-time gross settlement (RTG), automated teller machines (ATMs), point-of-sale switches coupled with mobile money interoperability, all aimed at achieving digitization of the Ghanaian economy.
However, we would like to recommend to the government and other relevant stakeholders that one of the practical ways to further improve the government digitization project would be the collaboration with KGL Technology Limited, a licensed online marketing company and service provider. responsible for the operation of the digital function code * 959 #.
The * 959 # has proven to be a very robust platform capable of delivering other important digital services outside of the regular business of generating revenue for the National Lottery Authority (NLA).
The digital short code * 959 # has been marketed well and the brand has an exceptional base, with the potential to serve as a vehicle for other services such as, but not limited to:
- Payment of water bills through collaboration with Ghana Water Company Limited.
- Payment of electricity bills in collaboration with ECG.
- Payment of cocoa farmers in collaboration with Cocobod.
- Registration of the TIN to ensure voluntary tax compliance. This would be done in collaboration with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
We believe that the effective collaboration between KGL Technology Limited and the Government of Ghana through the Economic Management Team, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Communications and Digitization and other organizations such as ECG, Cocobod, Ghana Water Company Limited, Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) etc., would help further strengthen digital service delivery, e-commerce and the overall digitization project as advocated by the government of Ghana.
