Millennium City Police Command in the Central Region arrested 22-year-old offender Eric Awutey for attacking a police officer in the area.
Police say the suspect bit the thumb of a policeman, Corporal Kasim Amenu, in an attempt to resist the arrest.
Recounting the events leading up to the incident, Millennium City District Police Commander DSP Charles Atuah told Adom News that a resident had come to file a complaint that an Eric Awutey stole his blocks of cement.
Corporal Amenu, who was then on duty, went with the complainant to arrest the suspect, but in the process of arresting the culprit, the suspect tore off part of his thumb and swallowed it.
The commander noted that the victim was then sent to Kasoa Polyclinic for treatment.
The suspect is currently in custody to assist with investigations.
