Mr. Abdulai Abanga, Member of Parliament (MP) from Binduri constituency said he was surprised when he received the message that he was the only New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate in the Upper Is to have won the elections.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Accra on Thursday, Abanga said that in the Seventh Parliament the NPP had three MPs from the Upper East region, but that did not happen. is not produced in the Eighth Parliament, “we went to just one.

“In the Seventh Legislature we had the constituencies of Navrongo Central, Bawku West and Tempane, but in this Eighth Legislature the table was rejected.

“For now, I represent more or less the people of the Upper East on the government side, because the other deputies from the other constituencies come from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“So on the government side, I will have to represent the whole region because my party is in government and this decision is made in parliament, and decisions are also made by the government in terms of development, so I will have to be the spokesperson for the people of the Upper East in the nuclear power plant, ”he explained.

Mr. Abanga, said he had a difficult task ahead of him as the only NPP MP in the region and that he would do his best to make his region proud.

“It’s not going to be easy as the only NPP MP from the region. I also have to try as much as possible to visit different places so that I can be assessed by what is going on there and then I can speak for them if I have to speak for them.

Commenting on his relationship with NDC deputies from the Haut-Est region, Mr. Abanga described it as cordial.

“But there is no doubt that I have good relations with the other deputies, even if they come from another party and I know that all are people who are interested in the development of their communities, therefore by working with these deputies, i am sure that together we will push for the development of the region ”, he declared.
