When the government launched the Sinohydro deal to undertake major infrastructure projects across the country, the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana took it on. Excellency Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia visited Prestea and promised that Prestea and Himan would benefit from the Sinohydro arrangement.

Support for the main $ 2 billion project was agreed between Ghana and China in 2018. As part of the agreement, Sinohydro Group Limited of China would provide the infrastructure chosen by the government in exchange for refined bauxite from Ghana. .

In light of the promise made, the outgoing MP for Preatea Huni-Valley, the Hon. The lawyer * Barbara Oteng – Gyasi * through several engagements with the vice president ensured that the roads of the city Prestea / Himan are captured in the 1st phase of the implementation of the Sinohydro projects.

Road construction began at the end of 2019 and is continuing today with the township of Prestea being asphalted.

October 8, 2020. Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia inspected the ongoing project in Prestea / Himan and pledged with the support of Hon. Legislator, the projects would be successfully completed in 2021.

Today, as per the promise, the tarring of the roads in the city of Himan began, which has generated much joy and excitement as residents congratulate the government and the former MP for completing their dream.
