Bono Regional Police Command has refuted rumors that a man believed to have been poisoned to death after being seen in a viral video is not a police officer.
According to them, the viral has nothing to do with the officers of the police department.
In the footage, the alleged police officer was seen holding a mug and dancing with his friends in what would be a promotion party. Another person was seen dancing with the group and apparently dropped an object into the drink from the cup holder.
In a statement signed by Deputy Regional Commander, ACP Baba Saanid Adamu, for Bono Regional Police Commander, said after the interception and close observation of the video, with an attached message suggesting that the Cup holder is a policeman from Sunyani, they are sure no policeman is involved.
“Even though the command lost an inspector named Fred Armah from the regional criminal investigation department in Sunyani, health officials at the regional hospital confirmed his death was linked to Covid-19,” the statement read.
The Command, however, said it was dissociating itself from the viral video and further “advised the public to stop spreading this false information,” adding “that there is no evidence” that the young man who reportedly died after being poisoned while dancing drinking with his friends in the video is a policeman ”.
