St Francis College of Education enrolls 568 students

St Francis College of Education (FRANCO), Hohoe hosted its 14th enrollment ceremony for a total of 568 students in the school’s various four-year programs.

The ceremony involves welcoming “freshmen and women” to the College, affiliated with the University of Cape Coast, which will make them full members of the College as members of the “Statu pupillari”.

The College received a total of 1,122 applications from qualified students and 856 were admitted while 568 accepted the offer of admission and were enrolled for the 2020/2021 academic year.

Mr. Clement Kantam Kolamong, College Secretary, St Francis College of Education noted that membership in St Francis College of Education has been conferred on students in accordance with section 31 of the Colleges of Education Act 2012, law 847.

“A student admitted to a college must take the enrollment oath and sign the enrollment register. A student who fails to sign the enrollment register may be prevented from graduating by the College. “

He said matriculation was indeed an important ceremony in the life of every higher education institution, as it was a day set aside to consume the process of admitting students to the higher education institution.

The secretary of the College also noted that registration confers the status of a full member of the institution of the participating candidate, having fulfilled all the necessary conditions, adding that “each registered student is entitled to all the rights and privileges recognized by the authority of the College. ”

He noted that each group of new students had to deal with the ramifications of the global COVID-19 pandemic with its concomitant effects in their socio-educational life on campus and added that students adhere to all safety protocols, this which prevented the College from recording. in any case since the resumption of academic activities.

The students took the oath of enrollment and the declaration of obedience to “diligently study and abide by all statutes, regulations and rules” while promising to show Christian dignity and simplicity, to be honest and polite at all times and show respect to staff members.

They further pledged to “support the vision and mission of St. Francis College of Education, including Hohoe; academic excellence, spirituality, morality and service to society.

Mr. Raphael K. Kwashie, Director of the College, said that the registration ceremony provided the opportunity for new students, who were admitted into the various programs offered at the College as junior members of the College community.

“The ceremony is also important because it gives you the opportunity, the graduates, to pledge allegiance to the authority of the Order by administering the Oath of Registration.

He said matriculants had to sign a bond to be of good behavior and submit to the authorities of all those whose authority had been vested in the College.

“You will also be expected to help elevate the image of the Order wherever you are and to ensure that you do not discredit the name of the Order.

Madame Portia Attipoe and Master Fofie Christopher performed the Matricular Signing Ceremony on behalf of the Matriculants.

The programs offered by the College include a B.Ed (Bachelor of Education) Maths and Science, B.Ed Maths and ICT, B.Ed Social Studies, B.Ed English and Ghanaian Language, B.Ed RME and Music, and B .Ed Primary education.
