Two suspects arrested for attack, murder of ambulance driver

Two suspects were arrested in connection with the robbery attack on Somanya ambulance which resulted in the death of the driver, Abraham Tetteh.

This was revealed to Citi News by the former Minister of the Eastern Region, Eric Kwakye Darfur, on Wednesday February 10, 2021.

“The police are working seriously. They tell me they’ve arrested two suspects. But they are conducting their own investigations and taking more leads on how to get to the bottom of this issue, ”he said.

Mr. Darfur said this when he joined the Eastern Regional Security Council and other officials to visit the crash site in Aseseeso.

Okere MP and Minister-Designate for Local Government and Regional Reorganization Dan Kwaku Botwe, Minister-Designate Eastern Region Seth Kwame Acheampong, Okere District Chief Executive Daniel Kenneth, the Commander of the Eastern Regional Police, DCOP Akrofi Ayirifi, the Deputy Commander of the Eastern Regional Police, DCOP Peter Baba, various district police commanders in the region and the regional directors of highways and roads urban residents of Ghana, Charles Aduboffour and Ing Kofi Nti Appiahgyei were part of the team that visited the scene.

They also had an engagement with stakeholders in the region with the aim of finding a lasting solution to suppress the activities of armed thieves operating between Aseseeso and Somanya.

After hours of another engagement, the team then moved to the Palace of the Chiefs of Aseseeso to visit him as a courtesy and ask his opinion on how to crack down on the activities of the gunmen operating in the community.

Okere MP Dan Kwaku Botwe, also concerned about the attack, said the assembly would support the police with a vehicle and tents for a post to help regular patrols in the area during the day and night .

Context

The driver of the National Ambulance Service in the eastern region was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the eye. Although he survived the attack, he later died on Saturday February 6, 2021.

Abraham Tetteh remained unconscious after eight suspected armed thieves shot him dead and extorted money from his colleagues.

They were transferring a laboring woman and her relative from Akuse government hospital to Koforidua regional hospital when the unfortunate incident occurred.
