OK look, we’ve been through this supposed Olivia Rodrigo / Sabrina Carpenter / Joshua Bassett feud a million times before, but new things keep happening, so we’re back here to dive into the latest events of the Drama City.

By now you will probably already know where this feud started, but here’s the backstory so we’re all on the same page …

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series Teammates Olivia and Joshua are rumored to be dating, although this has never been confirmed. However, last summer, whispers started to spread that there was a somewhat messy breakup behind the scenes, with Joshua pictured on an apparent lunch date with Sabrina around the same time Olivia posted. a photo wearing a “dump him” T-shirt.

Since then, all parties involved have released songs that appear to be not-so-subtle digs and shots. Olivia seemed to refer to Sabrina as “that blonde girl” who was older and still made her “doubt” her relationship. Sabrina then appeared to respond in a song to herself, singing about how they could have been friends in another life and how “maybe blonde was the only rhyme.”

But, despite the pointed (and sometimes shady) words, neither side is ready to “ confess the quarrel. ” In fact, Olivia and Sabrina got around the problem on several occasions, answering questions by … well, not really answering them at all.

In a new interview with Zach Sang, however, Sabrina was first asked directly about the feud, the songs, and whether she and Olivia could still be friends.

Of course, there was still a lot of bypassing questions, but Sabrina made some interesting points …

“It’s the tricky thing to be honest with yourself and to be honest enough to post it because you know people are going to misinterpret it,” Sabrina said when asked about reaction to songs. “I’m very aware of this and I’m sure other artists are aware of it.”

“It’s just what it is.” The skin “- I cannot stress this enough – is not just about one person,” the 21-year-old continued. “I have had so many different experiences over the last year in my personal life and in my career where there was a lot going on and there was nothing I could do about it and I couldn’t say anything because it sounded like ‘Either way, people were mad at me. “

She added: “I could have tried to ignore it, I could have tried to get around it, but the point is, it wasn’t a thing. It wasn’t something I was talking about, it was was not a situation I was talking about. “

But then came the big guns when Sabrina was bluntly asked, “Why was it important for you to refer to the blonde lyrics? [from ‘Drivers Licence’] in your song? “

“I guess people care, and I was curious as to why people cared,” she said in response. “But I also think, again, that people are pointing fingers. But at the same time, it’s not for me to say who it is or not, because it’s not my story, it’s not my story.

“I’m just approaching the attention people have been giving me assuming it was me,” she continued. “I was just like, ‘Well, you know, that makes sense, I’m blonde.’ But I think I came to a very honest place and said, ‘I don’t think anybody meant a grudge and I don’t think that’s what it is.’ “

But Sabrina wasn’t about to be released that easily, Zach then asking her if she thought they could still be friends. It’s important to note that Olivia was not mentioned once by name, although it seemed obvious who they were referring to.

Sabrina, once again, sort of danced around the question, seemingly surprised to be asked. “I mean, I’m absolutely, always, 100% like… you talked to me! Of course!” she said. “Absolutely, and if anyone talks to me, I think they would know.”

She added. “Everything is possible, absolutely.”

Not content with roasting her for tea over the quarrel, one of the interviewers laughed and said, “You’re so good at answering questions without answering questions,” which Sabrina lightly disputed.

“I feel like I’m saying things if you’re careful,” she says. “Maybe I’m not saying the things you want me to say because I think a lot of people want me to start something – I’m not here to start something.”

All of this comes hours after Sabrina was also accused of “getting around the controversy” by James Corden in an interview earlier this week.

When asked vaguely about the drama, Sabrina gave a similar response to others she gave on the subject. But, when in a hurry, she added, “People are always going to make a story out of something, and I think it was a really interesting song so that people can kind of misinterpret and get it. doing something he wasn’t really supposed to be doing in the first place. “

But Sabrina isn’t the only person refusing to answer questions about the drama directly – Olivia has been dancing around him as well and has yet to be prompted to give a substantive answer.

In an interview with Billboard, Olivia tried to play down the feud by saying, “I fully understand people’s curiosity with the details of who’s talking about the song and what it’s about, but for me it’s really the least important part of the song. “

And then, in another recent interview, she did pretty much the same. “I think my life is pretty boring, so it’s kind of funny to see people speculating on all of this,” she says. “I’m a songwriter and you write a song and you do your best and put it in the universe and whatever happens after that is not your concern. It’s everyone’s song now, it’s not mine.”

I guess that’s it then! You can watch Sabrina’s full interview with Zach Sang here.
