Tema Regional Police Commander DCOP Barima Tweneboah Sasraku II called on all parties involved in Ada Songor’s clash to show restraint.
According to him, the police command team has started to work to ensure peace in the area, but it is up to community members to do their part as well.
He made the comment when he met some key stakeholders in the Ada Songor Lagoon Basin clash, after weeks of turmoil and bloody attacks.
The meeting comes on the back of a clash that has led some Toflokpo – Salom natives to oppose Electrochem Ghana Limited’s takeover of the Ada Salt Basin.
The clash left around 14 gunshot wounds in their attempt to prevent ongoing surveying work by company workers in the area.
DCOP Sasraku II, who was in the company of its deputy commander and other senior command police officers, first visited the Ada Traditional Council to get first-hand information on their position on the question.
Ada Supreme Leader Nene Abram Kabu Akuaku III, who spoke through his secretary, said they fully support the project, urging the police to treat not only ruthlessly but also meticulously those who cause harm. problems in the region by the agreement.
He also called on the Command to support the district with more staff to deal decisively with the increase in crime cases in the region.
The Police Commander assured them of his willingness to help the Council find a lasting solution to the problem in question.
He also held a separate closed-door meeting with the directors general of the Ada East and Ada West districts – Sarah Dugbaki Pobee and Adzoteye Lawer Akrofi respectively – in their respective offices, to also discuss security issues.
He then visited the offices of Electrochem Ghana Limited, the company run by the CEO of McDan Group of Companies.
During his visit, Daniel Mckorley, expressed his greatest disappointment at the sudden opposition of some groups to the project.
The project, according to him, the region should gain huge benefits in terms of financial renovation and development.
In his address to the media, the commander of the Tema regional police force expressed his optimism that a lasting solution to these problems could be found.
He therefore called on all parties to refrain from any further attack or agitation against each other.
