There was fear on Thursday when a Kenyan member of parliament said his colleagues were not safe during the proceedings because a member was armed.
MP Elisha Odhiambo informed the speaker that he had seen what looked like a gun behind the coat of his colleague, Mohamed Ali.
President Justin Muturi asked Mr. Ali to confirm whether he carried a gun.
“My apologies, I forgot to leave my things outside. I am a human being,” he said.

“Mr President, allow me to surrender,” Ali said as the parliamentary broadcasting unit turned the camera away.
He was asked to drop him off with the Sergeant-at-Arms as required by law.
The speaker urged the sergeant to be vigilant and apply the rules calling it “terrible oversight”.
Mr Ali criticized his colleague for going public with the case and said it was politically motivated as the two support different parties.
Another MP, Millie Odhiambo, said the country was politically unstable and called for new security measures.
Kenyan lawmakers have been divided over ongoing calls for proposals for constitutional amendments. The president and his deputy are on a different side in the referendum push.
