Foreign and security policy analyst Adib Saani said it was unacceptable for the Minister-designate of National Security to question the credibility of security analysts who criticized and called for his dismissal during his four first years in office.
Mr. Albert Kan Dapaah, appearing before the parliamentary appointments committee on Wednesday, targeted Adib Saani and Adam Bona, accusing the two of lacking credibility in posing as security experts and commenting on national security issues.

He argued that calls for the minister’s dismissal in the past were justifiable as they were informed by a number of national security panics that hit the country when Mr. Kan Dapaah took over as Minister of Security. national in 2017.

Mr Saani further called dishonest an assertion by Mr Kan Daapah that a commander ordered the military to invade parliament during the election of a president for the 8th legislature.
“I find it dishonest and insulting to the intelligence of Ghanaians that anyone who thinks this initiative was taken by a military commander when we all know it came from somewhere high above him,” he said. said.
Mr. Kan Dapaah also justified the deployment of military officers as security details for some officials, saying that Ghana’s police services are sometimes not up to the task when it comes to the level of equipment. security required for specific cases.
Reacting to this, Saani said the practice of “civilianizing” the military cannot be justified, warning that the military could lose its relevance and respect if the phenomenon is not nipped in the bud.
He said a number of military officers “are not happy with the situation” and urged the government to provide resources to the police so that they can carry out their duties effectively.
Saani expressed hope that the law on security and intelligence agencies would be implemented if Kan Dapaah was given the green light to start another four-year term as Minister of National Security.
