Nigerian in custody for assaulting 4-year-old stepson

A Nigerian national identified as Wisdom Godwin was arrested by the Victims of Domestic Violence Support Unit (DOVVSU) of Kasoa Police Command.

Wisdom who lives in Gomoa Budumbram in the central region was arrested for brutally beating his four-year-old stepson.

Blessing Rinos, wife of the suspect and also a Nigerian, revealed that her son was constantly severely beaten, a recent one of which put the child into a coma. This prompted her to report her husband to the police.

The mother of the victims speaking Kasapa FM News Yaw Boagyan watched by Ghana Crusader said the young boy had cuts with blood oozing from parts of his body from the beatings and also suffered serious back injuries.

According to Kasoa DOVVSU commander ASP Doris Aggrey Laryea, the suspect was also severely beaten for the cruelties suffered by the young boy, but was saved thanks to the intervention of agents.

The suspect was rescued and arrested and has since been held in custody and participated in investigations.

She hinted, however, that Godwin would soon be brought to justice.

ASP Doris Aggrey Laryea further urged all mothers whose children are abused in various forms by their spouses to immediately report these incidents to police assistance.
