Finn Balor pleads for WWE to work with other companies. The reigning NXT champion believes it will help the fight as a whole.
At the start of the fight, wrestlers would move from town to town and fight for any promoter who would book them. Exclusive contracts did not exist until the creation of Wrestlemania. It was at this point that Vince McMahon began to tie his wrestlers to long-term contracts.

Many other companies have since followed suit, but they still allow for the exchange of talent. AEW for example works with several other promotions such as Impact Wrestling and NJPW. NXT Champion Finn Balor wants WWE to follow in AEW’s footsteps and enable crossover promotional events.
Finn Balor pleads for WWE to work with other companies
“I know there is a lot of inter-brand work going on, which I have been championing for years,” Finn Balor told Bleacher Report. “I don’t think we should limit ourselves to what our contract says or what company we work with.
Balor has said he is all for an open border policy and believes it will benefit the fight as a whole.
“I feel like the fight as a whole can be better if we all work together,” He continued. “So if that means I’m going to Japan, going to Europe, or going to Mexico, I’m ready to do it. I am all for the policy of open borders, not only between countries, but also businesses. “
Given WWE’s reluctance to bring up or even mention the existence of wrestling outside of WWE, it’s unlikely that they’ll ever heed Balor’s request. However, it’s refreshing to see a WWE star speak out on the subject so honestly instead of following company lines or giving the company correct answers.
