Ashanti’s regional representative on the State Council, Nana Owusu Achiaw Brempong has been selected.
He succeeded in polling 77 of the votes cast, followed by Bonwirehene Nana Bobie Ansah who had six votes.
James Nana Prempeh had three votes, and the other three failed to vote after two withdrew from the race.
Seven other people applied to challenge the representative of the Ashanti region, Nana Owusu Achiaw.
Two of the candidates, Judge Baffour Awuah and James Adusei-Sarkodie, resigned before the start of the elections, with Mr. Awuah throwing his weight behind the incumbent president.
86 delegates, two from each of the 43 metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies.
Confusion shook the election intermittently as some delegates attempted to take pictures of their ballots.
The police had to intervene to help the Election Commission keep the peace and continue the process.
The suspense that comes with the counting of the elections ended with the counting of the ballots of Nana Owusu Achiaw who was first on the list after having polled 77 votes.
Meanwhile, the elected representative, Nana Owusu Achiaw Brempong, has pledged to work within the dictates of the constitution.
