On a day that should be filled with love and happiness, Nicki Minaj and her family are in mourning after the Queen the rapper’s father has passed away.
According to a TMZ report released on Sunday (February 14), Minaj’s father Robert Maraj, 64, was walking down the road at the intersection of Roslyn Road and Raff Avenue in Mineola, New York on Friday night. A northbound car reportedly struck Maraj and left the scene. Witnesses were unable to capture a legitimate description of the suspect or the vehicle in question that struck Maraj. A representative from the rapper’s camp confirmed his father’s death, but made no further statement.
Maraj was taken to a local hospital where he was listed in critical condition. However, Maraj eventually succumbed to his injuries and died in hospital. The Nassau County Police Department in New York is still searching for the suspect. They are counting on the public’s help in locating Maraj’s murderer.
Minaj’s life had been relatively incredible before losing her father. The rapper gave birth to her son last year with husband Kenneth Petty. In early 2021, Minaj revealed her son to the world for the first time.

As of the date of this report, neither the Young Money rapper nor her family members have publicly commented on her father’s death. Rest in peace, Robert Maraj.
