Gabby Asare Otchere Darko, a prominent member of the New Patriotic Party has revealed the circumstances which led to the black cloth decoration at the home of Ken Ofori-Atta, candidate for Minister of Finance.

A visit by GhanaWeb to Ken Ofori-Atta’s residence after rumors of his disappearance revealed black cloth decorations outside his residence in Labone.

GhanaWeb in its report succinctly stated that the clothing was neither a confirmation nor a denial of the information.

As it turned out later, the rumors were untrue and Ken Ofori-Atta had arrived safe and sound in the United States where he was to undergo treatment for post-Covid complications.

Gabby Otchere Darko, a relative of the former finance minister in reaction to the publication of this site, explained that before flying to the United States, Ken Ofori-Atta had buried his father.

He explained that the death of Dr. Jones Ofori-Atta is what led to the black cloth decoration at his residence.

“Early Sunday morning (February 14) at around 6 am in Kyebi, Ken Ofori-Atta and a small number of his family buried his late father, Dr. Jones Ofori-Atta. He did this before flying to the United States the same day at night. The black rags near the front wall of his house in Labone were to mark his father’s death. Nothing to do with false rumors ”.

The private lawyer also revealed the conversation he had with Ofori-Atta before his trip to the United States.

According to him, even in his state of illness, Ken Ofori-Atta was still concerned about the country.
