The spokesperson for the second respondent at the hearing of the ongoing 2020 election petition, said there was a major difference between the former EC boss who took the witness stand and the demand of the petition this time around.
Speaking to reporters in Accra after Tuesday’s Supreme Court hearing, explained how Dr Kwadwo Afari Gyan appeared on the witness stand in 2013 and what John Mahama, the 2020 petitioner is seeking to achieve.
The court rejected a request filed by former President Mahama to reopen his case.
According to the Supreme Court, they find no merit in the request and pursue the current case without any hesitation.
The court ruling further exacerbated the applicants’ attempts to call the first defendant Jean Mensa to testify.
Mr. Oppong Nkrumah pointed out that there was a major difference between the 2013 election petition and the current petition.
“The brilliance of then-vice president Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, who demonstrated 11,000 pink leaves and the problems that posed, compelled Dr Afari Gyan that if he did not enter in the witness stand, the work he had done would be put aside ”. he said.
The hearing was postponed to Wednesday February 17.
