Her statement comes at a time when a member of the Parliamentary Appointments Committee asked her what she would do differently to address the issue of witch camps that violate the rights of so-called witches in society.

In response, the MP said that renovating existing witch camps to serve as a refuge is an approach that should be taken.

Past initiatives to end the practice of separating women from their homes and taking them to abandoned camps, she said, have proved futile, hence the need to introduce her new, more collaborative approach.

And for her idea to be sustainable, Adwoa Safo said women would receive education on the need “ that they also know that these abuses they are subjected to are not legal so that they can speak out and report these abuses. abuse to the police where appropriate. . “

Unsatisfied with the Minister-designate’s response to the resolution of the witch camps issue, Tamale South MP Haruna Iddrisu asked her about how the facelift would address the human rights violations these women face. given his experience in the field of human rights.

“If they see it as homes and the ministry supports them with the necessary social amenities that are expected of a state, they are given food, they are put on LEAP and clothing.
