The Parliamentary Appointments Committee today examines Afriyie Akoto and Kwaku Afriyie

The parliamentary appointments committee will review the designated Minister of Food and Agriculture and the designated Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation on Friday.

The 8th day of the ministerial audit will see Dr. Kwaku Afriyie and Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto appear before the Nominations Committee.

Both candidates are to inform the Committee of the actions they will take to assist President Akufo-Addo’s second administration in their respective ministries if given the mandate.

Dr Kwaku Afriyie will step down from the Ministry of State Interest and Governing Authority while Dr Owusu Akoto Afriyie prays to be retained as Minister of Food and Agriculture.

Sixteen ministerial appointments have so far been approved by the Nominations Committee.

Mavis Hawa Koomson and Kojo Oppong Nkrumah took their turn on Thursday to discuss their plans for their designated ministries.

Of the 16 candidates selected to date, Minister-designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Adwoa Safo had the shortest duration, around an hour with the Committee.

The list of 13 other candidates includes Minister-designate of Health Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, Minister-designate of National Security Albert Kan Dapaah, Minister-designate of Defense Dominic Nitiwul, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Minister-designate of ‘Education and the designated Minister for Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development, Dan Botwe.

Designated Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, Attorney General and Designate Minister of Justice, Godfred Dame, Designate Minister of Energy, Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Designate Minister of Communications and Digitization Ursula Owusu-Ekuful and Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey , Designated Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Designated Minister of Labor Relations Baffour Awuah, Designated Minister of Interior Ambrose Dery and Designated Minister of Roads and Highways Amoako Atta.

Meanwhile, the verification process is expected to end on March 9, 2021.
