The veteran forward could extend his time at Old Trafford.
Manchester United are considering discussing a contract extension with Edinson Cavani.
The 34-year-old Uruguayan international joined United after leaving Paris Saint-Germain before the Champions League restart in 2020. There is an option for an additional year on the deal he signed, but none decision was made by the player or club.
Cavani has scored seven goals in 24 appearances for his new club and established himself as United’s senior striker.
He’s also contributed two assists so far, and while he’s not supposed to play every game due to his age, he’s nonetheless an integral option for United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Solskjaer is preparing his side for their weekend fixture against Newcastle United and has hinted to the press that he is ready to discuss an extended stay for former Napoli.
“I can only say that Edinson did well,” said the United boss.
I was impressed with him he is really stuck in the group and we will be sitting down and talking with him in the near future to see his plans and our plans.
“It’s a good discussion to have.
“We are still talking to the players and with his contractual situation at the moment we are very happy with what he has done.”
United beat Real Sociedad 4-0 in the Europa League on Thursday night and they are second – 10 points behind Manchester City – in the Premier League.
