A trailer for Pixar’s upcoming film, Luca, is here. The film takes place in a picturesque and sunny town on the Italian Riviera. The coming of age story follows two young boys who are secretly sea creatures and take their true form upon contact with water.

First of all, visually, the film is absolutely stunning. The setting will definitely make great visual images. The colors are vivid, but not garish, and the quality of the surroundings and models Pixar has developed is unmatched.

Over the years, Pixar movies have lucidly explored complex themes, themes that live-action movies rarely handle as well. In these films, there is always a lot below the surface. The films are both fun and kid-friendly, but can also cover topics like death. And Luca seems like a very different movie (in a good way) from the illustrious animation studio. It will address themes such as acceptance and childhood friendships.

Many on social media called it animated Call Me By Your Name. Maybe with a little The Shape of Water thrown in.

Jacob Tremblay, Jack Dylan Grazer, Emma Berman, Maya Rudolph, Marco Barricelli and Jim Gaffigan are part of the vocal cast.

Luca’s official synopsis reads: “Set in a beautiful seaside town on the Italian Riviera, the original Disney and Pixar feature film, ‘Luca,’ tells the story of a young boy who lives an unforgettable summer filled of ice cream, pasta and endless scooter. mounted. Luca shares these adventures with his new best friend, but all the fun is threatened by a deep-rooted secret: They’re sea monsters from another world just below the surface of the water.

Luca is released on June 18, 2021.
