President Akufo-Addo will address the nation this evening for the 24th time on the novel coronavirus pandemic as cases in the country increase.

He is expected to give updates on the Covid-19 vaccine deployment plan which is expected to begin on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 for selected segments of the population.

The information minister-designate noted that government officials will publicly take doses of Covid-19 vaccines ahead of the mass vaccination exercise.

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah explained that it was to help demystify the public’s apprehension about vaccines.

According to the Ghana Health Service (GHS), vaccines will first be administered to health workers, frontline security personnel, people with known underlying medical conditions, over 60 elderly people and members of the community. front line of the executive, the legislature and the judiciary.

Meanwhile, cases of Covid-19 in Ghana are on the rise.

According to the Ghana Health Service website, as of February 24, 2021, the country has registered 626 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the number of active cases in the country to 5,480.

A total of 83,212 cases have been confirmed and 599 deaths.
