Everton dream of qualifying for the Champions League according to head coach Carlo Ancelotti.

The Toffees beat Southampton on Monday night, building on their triumph over Liverpool with a narrow victory that keeps them firmly in the search for a place in the top four.

Experienced coach Ancelotti has made no secret of his ambitions.

“We have a great opportunity to be in the top four and we would like to touch that position,” Ancelotti said on the club’s official website.

“We have to put all our efforts into Thursday’s game to try to be there, it’s a real possibility,” he added. “It doesn’t matter how long we can stay there, just to see how it feels if we’re there.

“There will be a big fight until the end of the season and we have to be happy that we can fight for this position.”

Everton, who have a game in hand against fourth-place West Ham United, can enter the top four if they beat West Bromwich Albion on Thursday.

“It will be a dream to be in the top four, we’re pretty close,” he continued, “but it’s a long season.”
