The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and the Ghana Judicial Service held a joint press conference today, March 3, 2021 at the premises of the Supreme Court.
This follows a warning statement issued by the Service asking the media to refrain from reporting hateful, malicious and offensive statements against the seven Supreme Court justices who heard the ongoing election petition for 2020.
The GJA, in a response through its chairman, Mr. Roland Affail Monney, said “the judiciary is not immune to criticism”.
He added that the judicial service’s statement is “outrageous, which threatens media freedom in Ghana”.
But on Wednesday morning, the two sides converged at the Supreme Court to address Ghanaians.
The press conference was attended by representatives of the Ghana Private Newspaper Publishers Association (PRINPAG), GJA President Roland Affail Monney; President of the Ghana Bar Association, Anthony Forson among others.
