Shots were heard Wednesday morning from the Presidency, Jubilee House, reports 3news.com.
It is not known what may have triggered the gunfire, but residents around the government building said they heard gunshots ringing from inside the enclave.
Presidency staff declined to comment on the incident.
But further checks by 3news.com revealed that the shots came from firearms used by the Ghanaian Armed Forces (GAF) in rehearsals ahead of the 64th independence celebrations.
3news.com finds that following the Covid-19 pandemic, this year’s independence celebrations will take place on the forecourt of Jubilee House with a few officers.
Last year’s celebrations took place in the capital of the Ashanti region in Kumasi for the first time in the country’s history.
