Dr Fred Adomako-Boateng Bono East, Ghana’s regional director of health services, on Tuesday pleaded with people in the region to get rid of any fear surrounding the Covid-19 vaccine and get vaccinated to help control the spread of disease in the area.
He expressed concern at the alarming rate of Covid-19 cases recorded in the region in particular this year, and stressed that the vaccine was the surest way to control the disease.
Dr Fred Adomako-Boateng spoke at the first mid-year annual meeting of the first health directorate performance review meeting in Kintampo in the Bono East region.
It was under the theme “Continuity of quality service delivery in the midst of Covid-19”. He urged the public not to be afraid since the country has administered several vaccines including cerebral meningitis all negative health implications recorded.
Dr Anthony Boateng mentioned that the region from January to February this year recorded more than 400 cases with a death rate of 1.2%, adding that 5.7% of those infected were under 10 years old while the infected people over the age of 60 were 8%.
He said all health workers who contracted the virus were alive in the line of duty.
Dr Adomako-Boateng called for new measures to be put in place to help curb the mode of spread of Covid 19 and urged the population to adhere to Covid 19 health security protocols.
Dr Adomako-Boateng instructed health workers to exercise discipline, adhere to safety protocols and urged the public to get vaccinated against the disease.
