Many see the two as brotherly rivals. But in parliament last Monday, Abetifi Constituency MP Bryan Acheampong injected joy into the icy relationship that existed between him and his neighbor MP Seth Kwame Acheampong.
There have been rumors of a love-hate relationship between the two MPs, following allegations that Bryan Acheampong sponsored a candidate in the last election to ensure the unforeseen uprooting of Seth Acheampong from Parliament.
Although both MPs declined to comment publicly on these rumors, political crooks and suspensions who profit from these feuds for political ends have made the situation huge and have further fueled tensions between the two Kwahu men.
During his consideration in Parliament on Monday, Seth Acheampong, who has been appointed Minister of the Eastern Region, congratulated his fellow MP for his immense contribution to promoting tourism in the Kwahu region.
Responding to a question about the potential of tourism in the region, he said to the admiration of Bryan Acheampong who impulsively beamed with smiles: “One of yours due to his energy leads the hospital industry in the region very well. of Kwahu. I am happy to report that one of the people leading this huge conflict for us to open the rocky city on the rocks of the land of Kwahu is bringing and promoting local domestic tourism ”.
When the member for Abetifi in turn came to ask the candidate a few questions, this is what happened.
Bryan (Question): This is Kwahu where you come from so you should know these facts in Kwahu, we have about 1/3 of the land area in the East region, but from Antonaboma to Nkawanda , about 70% of our population drink streams and rivers. Only less than 30% of our roads are paved. The threat of the shepherds has ravaged us for years. It went down a bit. We want a bold statement from you that, once you agree, your own backyard, you will support traditional and political leaders to face the current situation. We want to see this as a Kwahu emergency that you are going to defend to get us out of some of the issues I have listed.
Seth Acheampong: As a son of the earth if the saying goes, charity starts at home is something to say, I assure this house and this committee and by extension my people in Kwahu that the good work my brother represents the people of Abetifi constituency started when they were Minister of State under the former administration by stepping up the cow leg operation in Kwahu. The next level of exercise is what I echoed in a previous answer.
Beyond security engagement, we must engage in appropriate dialogue with stakeholders.
He continued: I give full assurances that where his leadership under the previous administration pushed progress towards peace and stability in the Kwahu region, I will take it from there. In addition, we appreciated the 3k project which must be a long successive development by the previous administration, it remains for distribution.
“When I am offered this opportunity and become a substantial minister through the kind endorsement of this august house, we will join forces and put pressure on the sanitation sector so that we can also benefit from the drinking water in most of our regions. Because the Afram River is a great store of food for us and we feed on it and I dare tell this House that it will be at the top of my agenda. “
Bryan: I went through your CV, a pretty impressive journey, you did well. In the House, the candidate has shown strength of character over the years that I have known him, and I have no other question but to wish you well if you get the nod, we will work together to bring peace and prosperity to the eastern region. , and Kwahu in particular. Congratulations.
